The Parallel Laid Rope is one manufactured to form linear contact by crossing all wires within strand as same pitch, in other words twisted in parallel like the picture below.
1) Because it forms a linear contact between the wire of each layer, the inner
abrasion between wires is low.
2) It has less form variation because each layer is twisted as linear contact at hollow
sections
3) It has less rope strain from winding
4) The breaking load is higher than Cross Laid Ropes of same size because
effective cross section is higher.
5) It is more stiff compared to Cross Laid Rope. (flexibility is low)
*Most suitable for cranes.
